Spotify users experienced a brief outage, with both the app and website affected.

Popular music streaming service Spotify experienced a brief outage on Sunday morning, leaving millions of users unable to stream music or access the website. Reports of the issue began surfacing around 10:40 AM ET, according to outage tracking service Downdetector. The problem impacted both the app and the website, preventing music from playing and causing the website to fail to load.

The outage sparked a wave of social media activity, with users flocking to platforms like Twitter to report the issues they were facing. Members of The Verge team also confirmed experiencing the same technical difficulties. Those attempting to visit Spotify’s website encountered server errors, while the app refused to stream any music.

Spotify Acknowledges and Resolves the Issue

Spotify quickly acknowledged the outage, with its support account @SpotifyStatus tweeting, "We’re looking into it." After working on the issue, Spotify's team was able to resolve the disruption, with a follow-up tweet from @SpotifyStatus confirming:

"Everything’s looking much better now!"

By that time, Downdetector’s reports of problems had sharply decreased, signaling that normal service had resumed for the majority of users.

A Brief but Widespread Disruption

Though the outage lasted for a short period, it was widespread enough to affect Spotify users globally, with many expressing their frustrations online. Outages like these are rare for Spotify, which boasts over 550 million active users worldwide, but when they do occur, they remind us how reliant we’ve become on streaming services for our daily entertainment.

Fortunately, Spotify seems to have addressed the issue quickly, allowing users to get back to their playlists and podcasts without much delay. If you’re still experiencing any issues, the best course of action would be to check for updates or restart your device.
